When some years ago I became interested in supervision methodology for coaches, the first person I talked to was Louise Schubert. From the beginning we had something in common: we both worked as foreign coaches in Spain, she was English and living in Barcelona, I was Belgian and living in Madrid, and with an interest in promoting reflective supervision as a space of support and development for coaches, she had trained as a Coach Supervisor in the UK where supervision is fully integrated in the coaching world. My search then reminded me of my first inquiries to choose a school where to train as a coach: What centers are there, is there a seal of guarantee, what are you going to learn, how is one program different from another, and of course, how is the situation of supervision for coaches here in Spain? How easy it is when someone shares their own experience with you! Your guidance was key to find the training I finally chose, with Dr. Peter Hawkins!

We have continued to meet along the way in different forums and now, as a result of the same vision to help coaches to have a space for development and reflection on their practice, we have created a common project: the first Online Supervision Group in Spanish, oriented to professional coaches and mentors, and facilitated by both of us.

This is a series of 6 virtual sessions through the Zoom platform, each lasting 2.5 hours, and for a group of maximum 6 coaches. We both have very good experiences with Zoom group work, and it seemed to us the best way to offer the flexibility of participating from your own home while allowing Louise and me to co-lead the sessions. We hope that this "double facilitation" will bring dynamism to the program and enrich it with a diversity in style, vision and experience.

The objective of the group is to form a space for support and professional development. To have a place to bring a coaching process you are concerned about or have questions about, to become aware of possible blind spots and patterns that interfere with your work, and to explore new ways of approaching your case. The group will offer insight and support. It will be your trusted network to test your effectiveness as a coach, normalize that we all get stuck sometimes and help you see what you alone are not able to detect. You will bring your own wisdom and everyone will learn from your own cases as well as from the processes shared by your peers. What better way to recharge your batteries!

Since the work consists of bringing cases from one's own coaching practice to explore with the group, it is important that participants have at least 100h of coaching experience and currently 3 active clients. It is interesting for Executive Coaches, Team Coaches, Life Coaches and Mentors.

In addition, supervision hours may be submitted to renew ICF and EMCC credentials.

Otherwise, it's very easy: Louise and I will offer several models to reflect on each case. The supervised coach chooses the model he or she prefers and we guide the conversation from there. At the beginning we will discuss confidentiality and other agreements that the group needs to function well and comfortably - it will be our first job to lay the groundwork for this supportive relationship.

For those who are not yet familiar with Supervision for Coaches, or are familiar with it but want to learn more, we are offering a free webinar on Friday, March 8, 2019.
